Question 1 via redhoundstooth:

What is something that never fails to make you laugh, and (in a thoroughly detailed explanation) why?

Inside jokes. It doesn't matter what it is; if something is an inside joke, it gets into my brain and wiggles around and makes me all giddy and weird. I have yet to figure out why.

For example: at work, a guy I sat beside pointed out that when I laugh, I sound like the dog from Duck Hunt (shut up lolol) because I do this weird squeaking noise instead of expelling air like normal people. When I told my husband, after every single time I'd laugh, he'd do the little "da-dadada-daDA" leitmotif you'd get in the game, and I could NOT stop laughing. It was a vicious cycle.

In this same vein, I love being able to quote movies with someone and will do it until you tell me to shut up. Anchorman and Talladega Nights are the worst.

Question 2 via thessillian:

What are your top 3 favourite things in the world and why!

3.

SCIENCE

Under this header are scientists, mathematicians, and their ilk -- I adore and admire anyone who asks "why?" about the world, and attempts to educate other people. One of my dear personal heroes is Carl Sagan for just this reason.

Truthfully I love learning and education and communication the same, but science is my favorite part. It's graceful and (mostly) simple and honest. It can correct itself, never claims it has all the answers, and shows us things about ourselves and others we never would have known if we hadn't asked "why?". It's a beautiful thing.

I'm one of these freaks that would be blissed out happy if I could just attend college for the rest of my life, learning about different things and writing papers and gaining new knowledge.

2. Oldies Music

My dad is a musician (he was a guitarist in a rock band) and he raised me on music. Music was like another sibling to me. Anything from Motown (The Four Seasons ftw, baby), to the British Invasion of the 60s, to (my favorite) classic rock and 80s music of all kinds. Not to say I don't like modern music, because I do, but music made before the 90s has a kind of endearing simplicity and powerful nostalgic capacity, so able to invoke an emotional response. It's impossible to not be happy when you're rocking out to A Night at the Opera, Let's Dance or Born in the USA.

1. Debate, ideas, and communication

I am an ideas person. I love knowing why things are the way they are, how they work, what they do. Similarly, I love knowing things about people and what they think about problems or issues simply because what they think is important, and it helps me consider the issue from another angle.

I'm happiest I'm able to trade Life Details with people; information about their lives, the culture they grew up in, their families, their political opinions, what they think about things, the things that are important to them. Being able to exchange details about life makes it exciting. In the same vein, having well-mannered and vigorous debates with people I like and respect is kind of like 2-person catharsis for me. I get hedgy when people won't explain why they think something, or tell me "that's just the way it is". Instant turn-off, and I lose a lot of respect for someone who won't respect their own opinions enough to actually reason them through.

Unsurprisingly I also love to talk. About anything, really. Sports, politics, current events, video games, sex, relationships, science, books, music, the food chain... whatever. Communication is #1 because when I find people with whom I can share a completely open channel of communication, the world makes more sense, and I love that.
